Dena and Tim Dority bought the Tucson business in January from its longtime owner. He was a one man show, Dena Dority says; the Doritys have hired six employees for the expanded enterprise.
The couple previously owned Eagles Wings Quilting in Casa Grande, which they closed in order to merge that store with Arizona Sew Vac at the Tucson location.
They still offer vacuums and sewing machines and repairs, but they’ve added two additional sewing machine lines; fabrics, including 100 percent cotton for quilting and rayon batik; notions, patterns and classes in a large new classroom, Dena Dority said.
The sewing machine lines now offered are Necchi, Janome and Elna, ranging in price from about $250 to $12,000.
The Doritys, who have been married 45 years nike air max 1 and call this the “third career” for each, said they’ve invested close to half a million dollars into the business.
